KU athletes tie school’s GPA record

Kansas University athletes tied a school record in the fall semester, posting a combined 2.99 grade-point average.

Women’s golf had the highest GPA with a 3.43. Seven other sports (women’s cross country, women’s track and field, volleyball, rowing, swimming and diving, tennis, softball) recorded GPAs of 3.0 or higher.

Football, meanwhile, reported a GPA of 2.73, the highest for that sport since the record-keeping started in 1986.

Men’s basketball posted a GPA of 2.95.

In all, 274 KU athletes — or 53 percent of active rosters — earned spots on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll by posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Thirty-four Jayhawks posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Members of the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll will be recognized at Wednesday’s men’s basketball game against Baylor.
