KU communications professor named a finalist for presidency at University of Evansville

Diana Carlin, Kansas University professor of communication studies, is a finalist for the presidency of the University of Evansville in Indiana.

Carlin was dean of the graduate school and international programs at KU from 2000 to 2007. She has also been dean in residence and director of international outreach for the Council of Graduate Schools in Washington, D.C., from 2007 to 2008 before returning to Kansas to serve as a caregiver for an ill family member.

Last year, she was a finalist for the presidency at Pittsburg State University before that school chose Steven Scott, its sitting provost, for the job.

Evansville has announced one other finalist for the job, Benjamin Akande, professor of economics and dean of the School of Business and Technology at Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, Mo.

All the finalists are expected to be announced by the end of the month, with the school’s Board of Trustees expected to make a final decision by mid-February.
