KU grad plans bike ride to raise money for those in poverty who need prosthetics

Lawrence resident and KU graduate Patrick Mathay is organizing a fundraiser bike ride from Oregon to Guatemala this summer.

Proceeds from the ride, which begins June 19, will benefit the Range of Motion Project, an organization that provides prosthetic devices to amputees in impoverished countries.

Mathay will be riding with fellow KU alum Greg Krupa, as well as various other riders throughout their 3,500-mile journey. The two have already raised 25 percent of their $50,000 goal.

For information on how to donate for the ride, contact Mathay at 303-818-0217 or by e-mail at plmathay@gmail.com. Donations can also be made online.
