U.S. Highway 24 repairs to delay traffic Thursday in Topeka

Pavement repairs will slow traffic Wednesday along a seven-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 24 through Topeka north of the Kansas River.

During periods from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the highway is scheduled to be reduced to one lane in each direction for traffic traveling between U.S. Highway 75 and Kansas Highway 4.

Crews from the Kansas Department of Transportation will repair pavement in the area.

The disruption is a “moving lane closure,” meaning that only short sections of the seven-mile stretch of highway will be closed at any particular time, said Kim Qualls, a department spokeswoman.
