100 years ago: Surveying for routes altered by flooding nearly finished

From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 19, 1910: The Santa Fe Railroad says it is about done surveying the routes that were altered by the flooding and should have details about the service soon. . . . After walloping Missouri in two games here, the KU basketball team barely beat the Kansas City Athletic Club 33-30. Fortune favored coach Hamilton’s men in the final minutes of the victory. It was the first game for KU on a long road trip. . . . There are to be no more sales of liquor in any of the lodge rooms of Eagles anywhere in Kansas. However, the local aerie did away with the sale of liquor some time ago and is not going to be affected by the new prohibitory rules. . . . The week of the farmers school here, by the Kansas agricultural college extension group, will begin March 6. The Manhattan team should be able to help a number of local farmers and it appears the visit by the extension service could become an annual affair.
