A Lawrence woman was taken to the hospital after she was reportedly beaten with a hammer Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers said they were called just before 6 a.m. Tuesday to the 1800 block of West 26th Street about a domestic dispute, where they found the 35-year-old victim with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police said they located the suspect, a 42-year-old Lawrence man, at a nearby gasoline station. He also had nonlife-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital, a police spokesman said. The man was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal damage of property.
