FSHS girls bowling 2nd, boys 3rd
LHS boys 4th, girls 5th
Topeka ? The Free State High girls bowling team placed second Thursday in a five-team showcase hosted by Washburn Rural, while the boys team finished third.
Lawrence High’s boys finished fourth, while the Lions’ girls were fifth.
Christina Picicci led the FSHS girls with a two-game score of 361 (205-156), while the boys were paced by Robert Wagner’s 441 (245-196) on a day in which bowlers completed just two games apiece instead of the traditional three.
“The boys had a rough outing a couple days ago, but came out with a lot of energy today and their spirits were up, and the girls, exactly the same,” Free State coach Anita Carlson said. “They did a good job. Even though we didn’t get to bowl our three games, it all worked out.”
Tanner Kilmer led the Lawrence boys with a 427 (209-218), while Alexah Gudenkauf paced the LHS girls at 351 (153-198).
Lawrence will play host to a home tri/senior night on Tuesday at Royal Crest Lanes, while Free State will compete on Feb. 20 in the Sunflower League championship in Olathe.
