Donors help provide Christmas gifts to Wichita theft victim and his family

? A Kansas theft victim will be able to provide Christmas gifts for his family after all.

The Wichita Eagle reported that people have been offering help since the paper published a story Sunday about Lawrence Huckleby’s plight.

Last week, a man used counterfeit money to buy $1,100 worth of auto parts from Huckleby. The Wichita man is disabled and has limited income.

He was selling the auto parts to pay bills and buy presents for his five children, who range in age from 4 to 12.

One woman drove to Wichita from a rural area near Newton and gave $600 to Huckleby’s wife, Melissa.

Lawrence Huckleby says he and his family want to thank the strangers “from the bottom of our heart.”
