Mass St. Chic: Great gift ideas for your fashion-conscious friends

Christmas is right around the corner, but what do you get for your fashion-conscious girlfriends who always seem one step ahead of every trend? Read on for some quick, last-minute gift ideas that every stylish lady would find absolutely fabulous.

1. Glitter:

Whether you pick out a vintage sequined blouse or a glittery skinny belt, there can never be too much shimmer, especially during the holidays. Check out belts at J.Crew or Gap for some reasonably priced options.

2. Bright lipstick:

Pick out some fun, new shades that you think will look best with your friend’s complexion. This is an easy, personal gift that won’t go unappreciated. And it doesn’t have to be a super-fancy brand.

3. Manicure kit:

Find a manicure kit for under $20. Look for versions that include nail clippers, nail files, tweezers and nail scissors. Or, purchase these items individually and package them in a cute, colorful case or makeup bag. Tell your friend that she deserves to relax and pamper herself!

4. Magazines:

Pick out three or four of your favorite fashion magazines — or even better, give your girlfriend a magazine subscription for the entire year. Just be sure she doesn’t already subscribe to your magazine of choice.

5. Legwear:

This may seem lame, but a girl can never have enough socks, tights, leggings or leg-warmers. Without these items, half of her fashion-forward wardrobe is defunct, especially during the cold winter months. Keep your eye out for funky stockings and tall, warm socks with interesting patterns or colors. Your gal-pal will totally appreciate this thoughtful gift and truly feel the warmth.

6. Books:

Give your fashion forward friend a book about fashion — personal style books, designer memoirs, fashion photography, fashion advice. You name it — if it has to do with fashion or style, it will be loved. Some new books on my wish list include “Juergen Teller: Deste Fashion Collection,” “Vogue Covers: On Fashion’s Front Page,” “THE ELLEments OF PERSONAL STYLE,” “Prada: The Book,” “Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture” and “Chanel: Collections and Creations.”
