Veritas swept by Wichita Defenders

? The Wichita Defenders lived up to their name.

Their offense wasn’t half bad, either.

The Wichita team of homeschoolers beat Veritas, 66-39, in high school boys basketball on Friday night.

“They’re a great team,” Veritas coach Gary Hammer said. “They shot lights out, and their defense was just tenacious. They took us out of our offense and just outplayed us.”

Elijah Penny led Veritas with 14 points, and Ethan Scott added 11.

The Defenders improved to 11-4. Veritas fell to 5-2 and will be idle until traveling Jan. 4 to Topeka Cornerstone.
