A water main break will keep the 700 block of Kentucky Street closed until probably midweek, according to a statement released by a city of Lawrence official.

A 24-inch line broke Saturday afternoon and city crews shut off water to the area, said Jeanette Klamm, utilities program manager; however, no homes or businesses are without water, she said.

Repair on the line will begin Monday and was delayed “due to the dangerous wind chill factor and size of the line,” Klamm said.

A detour will direct drivers around the closure, and Klamm said she expects the street to reopen mid-week.
