Topeka police shoot person accused of stealing car

? Topeka police have shot and wounded a person accused of pointing a weapon at an officer.

Police said in a statement Monday that the shooting happened Sunday night as police were trying to stop a car that had been taken during a home invasion. During the pursuit, one suspect fled the vehicle on foot. The suspect pointed a firearm at the officer after a short pursuit and was shot.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that neither the identity of the wounded person nor his condition was immediately released.

The shooting and home invasion are under investigation.
