Rachael Hodison, Lawrence, has been admitted to Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn., for the fall 2011 semester. Hodison was awarded the Presidents scholarship which provides a total of $10,000 in funds.

The family of Pat Young will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today in her home, 190 E. 1575 Road, Baldwin City. No gifts please.

Margaret Barnes, Lawrence, and Ashley Foos, Lecompton, are among 68 baccalaureate and 20 graduate students of Washburn University’s School of Nursing who will be honored Dec. 18 during a recognition and pinning ceremony at White Concert Hall on the WU campus. The School of Nursing commencement will be Dec. 17 in Lee Arena, Petro Allied Health Center.

Barnes is the daughter of Rod and Mary Barnes, Lawrence. Foos is the daughter of Rick and Elizabeth Foos, Lecompton. She was named to the dean’s list, was a member of Student Nurses of Washburn and served as a color guard.

Madison Orth, daughter of Dr. Greg and Becky Orth, Lawrence, was named to the spring 2010 dean’s honor roll at the University of Oklahoma, by earning a minimum grade-point average of 3.5. Orth, a sophomore pre-med student, is majoring in zoology and minoring in Spanish.
