Wichita ? Republican Sen. Pat Roberts has endorsed his party’s nominee in Kansas’ 4th Congressional District race.

Roberts said Tuesday that businessman Mike Pompeo is exactly what Kansas needs in Washington. He cited Pompeo’s military experience.

Pompeo faces Democrat Raj Goyle in the race to replace Rep. Todd Tiahrt, who gave up the House seat to make an unsuccessful run for Senate.

Pompeo says he looks forward to working with Roberts to secure the border. He says the country must fight illegal immigration and needs reforms that don’t reward those who remain in the U.S. illegally.
