Severe thunderstorm warning expires for Douglas County

The severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Douglas and south-central Jefferson counties was allowed to expire at 4:45 p.m.

The storm has weakened, though radar indicated the storm could still produce heavy rain and strong winds. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for Douglas County until 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Douglas County until 4:45 p.m. The warning also includes Jefferson County.

Radar indicated the storm is capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.

Locations impacted include rural areas of northwestern Douglas and south-central Jefferson counties.

Strong damage is likely from this storm.
