Bogus issues

To the editor:

Full disclosure: More times than not, I do not agree with the editorial opinion expressed in the Journal-World. That said, I felt compelled to commend the editor for Thursday’s “Judicial politics” column. The political and historical analysis of this issue is right on the mark. We should celebrate our non-partisan selection process, not support politically motivated, opportunistic attempts to turn back the clock — “no one has demonstrated that there is a problem” with the state’s 50-year-old judicial selection process.

Of course, in our present, toxic political climate, legitimate evidence of a problem is not a prerequisite for proposing policy or constitutional change or for a partisan attack on one’s political adversary. Indeed, it appears that at least one candidate for statewide office this season is basing his entire campaign on a bogus issue or “problem.” Can anyone show me even one example of widespread election fraud in Kansas? Where is the EVIDENCE?
