KU student earns spot on ‘Jeopardy!’

A Kansas University doctoral student is set to appear on the television game show “Jeopardy!” next month.

Donald Schepker, a student in the School of Business, first applied to be a contestant in January 2009.

In June, he got the phone call notifying him he’d be on the show, and he filmed the episode on July 27.

He cannot comment about his performance on the show until it airs on Sept. 23.

“I’ve always watched ‘Jeopardy!’ and enjoy challenging myself,” Schepker said in a news release. “I tend to remember useless facts and have a thirst for knowledge. My appearance on the game show is the culmination of a lifetime of enjoying and competing in trivia.”
