Hunter education course to be held in September

The Lawrence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 2 will sponsor a hunter education course next month.

Everyone born after July 1, 1957, who wishes to hunt in the state must have a hunter education certificate, which is awarded upon successful completion of the course.

Students must be at least 11 years old as of Sept. 18 to enroll in the course, which will take place: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in Building 21 at Douglas County Fairgrounds and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. A map to the lodge will be given out during the first meeting. Attendance on both days is required to pass.

To register, call Sgt. Max Miller of the Lawrence Police Department at (785) 832-3288. Leave a voice mail with the full name (no nicknames), date of birth and contact number of each student enrolling in the course. Then, attend the first class for additional information.
