Free State freshman football meeting: The Free State High football program will be holding a meeting on Thursday, May 6, for the eighth-grade students planning to play freshman football at Free State next fall. The meeting, which parents of potential players are also asked to attend, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Free State auditorium.

New Day For Horseshoes: The Lawrence Horseshoe Club is changing days for its weekly meetings from Thursday to Tuesday. The club will meet every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Broken Arrow Park. Youth Football Camps: The Lawrence Youth Football Camp, put on by coaches and players from both Lawrence High and Free State, will be June 28-July 1 for players entering grades 3-8. It will run 8:30 a.m. to noon. Free State Youth Football Camp for linemen will be June 22-24, with the camp for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs July 6-8. LHS Boys Basketball Camp: Dates for the 2010 Lawrence High boys basketball summer camps have been set. An offensive-skills camp for youths entering grades 5-9 will be held June 1-3, and basketball camps for grades 3-5 and 6-8 will be held July 6-9. High school summer basketball workouts will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 7-July 14 and are open to boys entering grades 9-12. Track Club Meetings: The Lawrence Youth Track Club meets 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at South Junior High. The club, for youths age 8-18, runs through July. Scholarships are available.

Lions Fundraiser: The Lawrence Junior Lions U14 baseball team will hold a pancake feed from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the Sixth Street Applebees. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Jayhawk Golf Club Results: Chad Roesler shot 70 to win the net portion of the Jayhawk Golf Club’s even Sunday at Alvamar Public. Tyler Cummins (72) was second, followed by Conrad Roberts (73) and Van Reichert (77). Tony Compton (70) won gross and was followed by William Gantz (71), Mike Farve (71) and Curt Anderson (72).

Rugby Team Tumbles: The Junior Jayhawks Rugby Club lost to the Kansas City Junior Blues, 18-0, Thursday at Westwick, but rebounded to defeat Liberty, Mo., 22-10, Saturday at Hodge Park on Saturday. Jake Walter led the scoring with two tries in the victory against Liberty.

Panknin Hole-In-One: John Panknin used a pitching wedge to shoot a hole-in-one on the 85-yard eighth hole at the Orchards. Witnesses were Alex Vigdorth, Matt Wright, Pat Boyle and Joey Hartman.

Dineen Hole-In-One: Joe Dineen, 14, used a 9-iron to shoot a hole-in-one on the 106-yard sixth hole at the Orchards. Witnesses were Tristan Garber and Cole Moreano.

Free State Hoops Camps: The Free State Basketball Camp will take place June 1-4 at FSHS. Grades 3-5 will go from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Grades 6-8 go from 1-3:30 p.m. The Free State Shooting Camp for grades 3-8 will be from 9-11 a.m. June 28-30. Workout camps for grades 3-8 will begin June 7.
