State Library collection ready to move to temporary storage while renovations continue

? With the staff of the Kansas State Library already relocated to temporary quarters, it’s time for the rest of the collection to move to a temporary home.

Crews were set to begin removing the remaining books and documents Tuesday from the library’s permanent home on the third floor of the Kansas Statehouse. The materials will be placed in temporary storage elsewhere in Topeka while the library is renovated.

The work is part of the ongoing Statehouse renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in 2012.

Since the library closed in December, the staff and some materials have been housed in a temporary modular building on the Statehouse grounds.
