University Bridge Club announces results of its March 27 meeting, with hosts Cathy Stephens, Joan VanNice, and Al and Carol Smith.

Blue winners were Harold Riehm, first; Bonnie Haney, second; Tom Waller, third; George Bocquin, fourth; and Willie Stoltenberg, fifth.

Pink winners were Mary Jo Spotts, first; Virginia Williams, second; Ailene Bocquin, third; Dottie Miller, fourth; and Janet Dunn, fifth.

The Betty Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met March 20 at the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. After the DAR ritual and flag salute, members, along with four guests, visited and introduced themselves. The president general’s message, a Constitution minute, and the National Defense was read. Officers and committee reports were given. Jenny Lanning-Rush, Sandra Ferris, Kristen Ferris, Nolle Howe, Mary McCormick and Christy McCormick were voted into the chapter.

The ROTC awards ceremonies were announced. The Navy ROTC will be at 3 p.m. April 28 at the Kansas Union. The Army ROTC will be at 3 p.m. May 6 at the Military Science Building at Kansas University. The KSDAR state conference will be April 16-18 at the Capital Plaza in Topeka. After the meeting, Mary Burchill gave a program about Elizabeth Watkins. The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. April 24. The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game of March 24 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Steven Vossler and Larry Weatherholt, first in A; Mary Fenlon and Lester Dalton, second in A; Suzanne Wassmer and Betty Collier, third in A, and first in B and in C; Julia Brooks and Florine Creek, fourth in A and second in B; and Angie Davidson and Dick Shaffer, fifth in A, third in B, and second in C.

East-West winners were Klee Zaricky and Grant Sutton, first in A and B; David Piro and Paul Heitzman, second in A; Lois Clark and Mark Osborn, third in A and second in B; Eldon Herd and Shari Krentzel, fourth in A and third in B; John Fittell and Polly Schoning, fifth in A; and Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, fourth in B.

The Thursday Morning Mentor Duplicate Bridge Club’s game of March 25 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Virginia Johnston and Angie Davidson, first; Eleanor Patton and Chris Lane, second; John Reese and Jan O’Connor, third; and Barbara Haverty and Patricia Lechtenberg, fourth.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game of March 26 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Bobby Patton and Mark Osborn, first in A and B; Kent McCullough and Lois Clark, second in A; Chris Lane and Patricia Lechtenberg, third in A and second in B; Larry Weatherholt and Steven Vossler, fourth in A; Janice Hollowell and Jolene Andersen, third in B; Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, fourth in B; and Marilyn Martin and Jean Khatib, first in C.
