LHS boys 4th; Wedge 2nd

Lawrence High’s boys cross country team placed fourth on Saturday at the Jayhawk Invitational at Rim Rock Farm.

The Lions were lead by senior Roy Wedge, who finished second with a time of 15:58.71.

LHS finished eighth at this meet last season.

“We are preforming better than last year,” Lions coach Brian Anderson said, “and that was really exciting.”

Calvin Morgan finished in 24th place with a time of 16:50.48, and Joseph Springer took 31th in 17:03.65

The Lions’ other runners were Nicolas Shump (17:21.28), Simon Fangman (17:56.53), Kyler Thomann 18:00.83) and Cody Jones (19:02.58).

The LHS girls finished in 17th place.

Anderson said many of the girls improved their times.

Michala Ruder led the Lions, finishing 43rd in a time of 16:57.93.

The other LHS girls runners were Lucy Daldorph (17:13.84), Shelby Clark (17:22.65), Adree Shield (18:06.82), Jordan Herd (19:35.51) and Regan Keller (19:40.99).
