Lawrence's Fall Parade of Homes to open Saturday

The Lawrence Home Builders Association’s upcoming Fall Parade of Homes will feature some residences that have been around awhile, others that are new to the market and even a patch of property awaiting construction.

Among their common traits: The builders involved are ready to start selling, building and then selling some more.

“A lot of them are excited,” said Bobbie Flory, the association’s executive director. “After this slow time, they’re ready to work. They’re ready to get going. They’re ready to get their employees back to work. A lot of them are looking forward to a better upcoming year.”

The association’s Fall Parade, a seasonal tradition, is set for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and again Oct. 3 and 4. Interested people can drop by any or all of the 18 sites open during the tour-it-yourself event.

The Fall Parade gives people a chance to see properties available in the market, check out new trends, and often interact with builders themselves as they show off some of the best products and features they have to offer.

Among entries open for visits:

• 1204 Del., energy-efficient townhomes built by Clovis Construction for sale below market value through Tenants to Homeowners, to people with low incomes. List price: $95,000 to $115,000.

• 1040 April Rain Road, a home inspired by Pacific islands and built by Highland Construction. List price: $449,900.

• 5101 Parker Court, the starting point — at the Westwood Pool — for a look at the Westwood Hills Subdivision, where David Clemente Construction Inc. is selling lots for $55,000 to $140,000. That’s also where visitors will be able to enjoy complimentary grilled hot dogs from noon to 2:30 p.m. each day of the parade, Flory said.
