Despite stroke, Keillor not slowing down

St. Paul, Minn. — Fans of “A Prairie Home Companion” can stop sending Garrison Keillor flowers. The humorist and best-selling author says he’s just fine after recently suffering a mild stroke and is back at work preparing for the new season of his popular radio show.

“What I feel is impatience and guilt at accepting sympathy and concern from people that I do not have coming to me,” Keillor told The Associated Press on Wednesday, little more than a week after he checked himself into a hospital because he was feeling sick.

“You get a lot of potted plants that you’re really not entitled to,” said Keillor. “Just because a guy, you know, spent four days on monitors doesn’t entitle you to a big pot of black-eyed Susans. They should go to people who have real problems.”

Keillor, 67, said he has no plans to retire or to postpone the coming season of “A Prairie Home Companion,” which kicks off Sept. 26 with a live broadcast from St. Paul’s Fitzgerald Theater, followed by a meatloaf supper and annual street dance.

LeBron James to star in movie comedy

Cleveland — LeBron James is leaving Cleveland — for Hollywood.

The Cavaliers superstar and reigning NBA MVP will make his feature film debut by playing himself in an upcoming comedy.

James will appear in “Fantasy Basketball Camp” by Universal Pictures. The movie is about five guys from different backgrounds who come to Las Vegas to live out their fantasy by attending James’ basketball camp. Production will begin next summer, when James can become a free agent.

James is experienced in front of the camera. Along with appearing in numerous TV commercials, he has hosted “Saturday Night Live.”

Producer Brian Grazer is convinced the All-Star forward can make the transition to the big screen, as rapper Eminem did in “8 Mile.” Grazer also produced that picture.

Police arrest suspect in Lohan burglary

Los Angeles — Police arrested a man on Thursday who is suspected of breaking into the homes of Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge.

Officer Rosario Herrera said detectives arrested Nicholas Prugo, 18, on suspicion of felony burglary. Prugo was being held on $20,000 bail.

Herrera said the investigation is ongoing and there were no details about whether any property was recovered. No one else has been arrested, she said.

Jail records did not indicate whether Prugo has an attorney.

Lohan’s Hollywood Hills home was broken into last month. Patridge, a star of MTV’s show “The Hills,” had her home burglarized in February.

Both women turned over surveillance footage of the break-ins. Lohan’s footage showed three people, while Patridge’s cameras captured a man and a woman.

Kanye West gets 9 BET awards nominations

Atlanta — Kanye West might still be under fire for his controversial act on MTV, but the ranting rapper could be looking at plenty of praise from BET next month.

West has received nine nominations for the fourth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, which will be televised Oct. 27. The rapper caused a stir Sunday after he interrupted 19-year-old country singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 32-year-old West’s latest album, “808 & Heartbreak,” has sold more than a million copies.

Jay-Z and Lil Wayne drew the second-most nominations with seven apiece, while T.I. received six nods.

The network will also recognize veteran rapper Ice Cube with the “I Am Hip-Hop” icon award. The show will be hosted by comedian Mike Epps.

Heigl and husband adopt baby girl

Los Angeles — Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley have completed their adoption of a baby girl from Korea.

Heigl spokeswoman Melissa Kates says the couple named the 10-month-old Nancy Leigh, after the actress’s mother Nancy and her sister Margaret Leigh. The girl will go by the nickname Naleigh.

Kates says both parents and Naleigh are together and doing well. The couple is putting photos of their daughter up on jasonheiglfoundation.org, the Web site of Heigl’s animal-rescue foundation.

Heigl plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and is currently shooting the film “Life as We Know It.”

She and Kelley, a singer-songwriter, have been married since 2007.

Comedy Central revives comedy awards show

New York — Comedy Central says it is reviving the defunct American Comedy Awards.

The awards show took place for 15 years, the last time in 2001 and televised by Comedy Central. The network said Thursday it plans to bring the awards show back to life and is teaming with prominent awards show producer Don Mischer.

It will honor a year’s worth of best comedy writing and performance in film, television and over the Internet.

Comedy Central says it expects the first new American Comedy Awards to air near the end of next year, simultaneously on its network and corporate partners Spike TV and TV Land.
