Undefeated FSHS soccer tops Leavenworth

? Free State High’s soccer team blanked Leavenworth, 2-0, on Tuesday at the Pioneers’ field.

Diego Gonzalez scored both goals off assists from Daniel Chance. Jackson McClure and Elliot Johnson combined for the shutout in goal.

Will Libeer and Tyler Smith were cited for strong play in the midfield.

“We were up the first half, 2-0, despite playing poorly. We were flat, lacked focus,” FSHS coach Jason Pendleton said. “Despite not scoring any more goals, we played much better and created more opportunities the second half. We were more organized. Neither one was good enough,” added Pendleton.

Free State (3-0) has outscored its opponents, 8-0, this season.

The Firebirds will meet Olathe Northwest at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Free State.
