Man target of two robberies in three days

Three victims robbed at gunpoint late Monday night in apartment north of KU campus

A 28-year-old Lawrence man was the target of two sets of robbers in just three days.

Police are seeking three suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred late Monday night at an apartment complex north of the Kansas University campus.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, police responded at 11:06 p.m. to West Hills Apartments, 1012 Emery, where three people had reportedly been robbed at gunpoint.

Three suspects had kicked in the door of a third-floor apartment, forced the three occupants to the floor and rummaged through their pockets, stealing wallets, cash and a phone. One of the victims suffered an injury when he was struck in the back of the head.

The suspects were described as one white male and two black males, all in their mid-20s, all carrying handguns.

The white male was described as around 6-foot-4 with a stocky build and short blonde hair, wearing predominately white or light clothing. Both black males were described as about 6 feet tall with average builds. One was wearing a green T-shirt. The other was bald, wearing a white T-shirt.

Officers also responded to an armed robbery call around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the same apartment complex.

Law enforcement officials said a 28-year-old man — who was also a victim in Monday’s robbery — was entering his apartment building with another man when two suspects, one who had a gun, approached them.

The suspects tried to force their way into the apartment, but the two victims were able to get inside and lock the door. The suspects fled the scene and were not located.

In this instance, the suspects were described as being a white man and a Hispanic man, both about 30 years old.
