Marine Corps marathon: Katie Marden, a 1999 Lawrence High graduate who now lives in Washington, D.C., ran Sunday in the Marine Corps marathon. She finished in a time of 3:37:40, which placed her 316th among 8,301 women who finished the race and 1,832nd overall out of 21,008 finishers. There were two women runners from Kansas with faster times. Her time qualified her for the 2010 Boston Marathon.

LHS Winter Sports: Lawrence High will hold its winter sports informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the LHS cafeteria. Deadline for turning in athletic forms for participation in winter sports is Nov. 13. First day of tryouts and practices for all winter sports, except bowling, is Nov. 16.
