Janis “Jan” Stewart, president of Office Helpline Inc. in Lawrence, has been elected District III Vice President of the American Business Women’s Association, the nation’s premier organization for working women. Stewart was sworn into office Sept. 25 at the association’s 2009 National Women’s Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo.

An active member of ABWA for 20 years, Stewart is a member of the Lawrence Express Network. Her numerous roles in ABWA include serving as a Chapter/Express Network president, vice president and treasurer, as well as newsletter editor.

Stewart will be a part of the 2009-2010 ABWA national board of directors, a group of nine that functions as the association’s governing body. Its members also serve as trustees of the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund.
