Clyde M. Reed, then of Lawrence but formerly of Parsons, donated $100,000 to establish the Clyde M. Reed Distinguished Professorship in Journalism at KU. Reed was a 1937 KU graduate who had been the noted editor of the Parsons Sun and a Republican candidate for governor.
