The Journal-World learned recently that John Richey is no longer coaching boys and girls tennis at Free State High.

Free State athletic director Mike Hill said he could not comment on the situation because of a district policy that prohibits school officials from discussing personnel matters. Hill did confirm that Richey is no longer coaching at FSHS.

Richey coached the FSHS girls and boys for two seasons. He joined the boys program first in January of 2008 and then decided to become a part of the girls program that summer.

He currently works as a tennis instructor at First Serve in Lawrence.
