N. Second and Locust project on schedule

The new water line is installed. New drainage pipes are in place.

Now it’s time for pavement and related work at the intersection of North Second and Locust streets, where crews remain on track to have both lanes of traffic along North Second back open for traffic by the end of the year, said David Corliss, city manager.

“The road work is under way in earnest,” Corliss told commissioners on Tuesday night.

Corliss was quick to point out that while contractor R.D. Johnson Excavating Co. Inc. looked to remain on schedule, the reconstruction project’s continued timelines would hinge on two words: “weather permitting.”
