Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to Westside Presbyterian Church, attended the Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base from June 20 to 27.

Scouts attending were Jamie Braden, Adam Hayes, Austin Johanning, Jacob Pfeifer, Clayton Pfeifer, Isaac Remboldt, Connor Remboldt, Mathew Thompson, Monte Scott-Turner II and Jeremy Woodhead. Scout leaders attending were Cammie Braden, John Pfeifer and Chuck Remboldt. The week’s activities included a day of mountain biking on the Rainbow Trail and two days of backpacking. The Scouts hiked part of the Colorado Trail and then went up the Mount Shavano Trail and spent the night at a base camp site. The next morning they completed the hike to the summit of Mount Shavano with an elevation of 14,299 feet. The week concluded with two days of whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River. The white water rafting included class I- IV rapids through Brown Canyon. During the trip, the Scouts also swam in the river at rest areas. The scouts earned the 50-mile award for the biking, hiking and rafting while participating in activities during the week at the Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base.
