Mitchell Hole in One: Ken Mitchell, 83, aced the 135-yard No. 11 hole Tuesday at Alvamar Country Club. Perry Warren, Dennis Hummell and Mike Easterday witnessed the shot.

Anderson JGC Winner: Chris Anderson shot a 76 and won the weekly Jayhawk Golf Club tournament Sunday at Alvamar by a stroke over Van Reichert. Bud Stagg was two strokes back. In net scoring, Mike Farve was low with a 62, five strokes better than Mike Beaton and seven better than Tom Taylor.

Kukuk Chosen: Cody Kukuk, a Free State High senior, has been selected to play in a qualifying tournament next June to determine members of the USA U-18 baseball team that will travel to Canada for the World Championships. Kukuk was one of eight players tapped out of 240 Midwesterners who tried out in Cary, N.C.

Shoreline Shuffle: Tim Hibbard was overall male winner, Lisa Giullian was overall female winner, Troy Blair was masters male winner and Susan Mayberry masters female winner of the Shoreline Shuffle trail run. Other placers: Nick Lang and John Wickersham, second and third, overall male; Kristy Mayo and Kelsey Trimble, 2-3 overall female; Michael Eglinski, second, masters male; and Lynn Krug and Janice Loudon, second and third, masters female.
