No. 18 KU women lose to TCU

Jayhawks fall to 0-2 at Junkanoo Jam

? The 18th-ranked Kansas University women’s basketball team lost to Texas Christian University, 74-69, in the consolation game of the Junkanoo Jam tournament on Saturday afternoon.

KU (3-2) led, 33-29, at halftime but gave up 45 points in the second half. TCU (4-2) went 5-for-9 from behind the three-point arc in the second half.

Junior center Krysten Boogaard led the Jayhawks with 21 points on 8-for-8 field goal shooting. A layup by Boogaard with less than one minute remaining put KU ahead, 69-68, but TCU scored the game’s final six points.

KU senior guard Danielle McCray scored 15 points and sophomore forward Aishah Sutherland added 16 points and seven rebounds. The Jayhawks’ bench added just four points on combined 2-for-7 shooting. KU has lost its last two games after starting the season 3-0.

Junior forward Emily Carter paced the Horned Frogs with 16 points and 3-for-5 three-point shooting.

KU will host UCLA at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3 at Allen Fieldhouse.
