Washburn University announces area students named to its honor rolls for the 2009 spring semester.

Students must earn a 4.0 grade-point average to be named to the president’s list and a grade-point average between 3.4 and 3.99 for the dean’s list.

The family and descendants of Isaac B. Hoover will meet for their annual reunion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 in Building 1 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper. Potluck will begin at 12:30 p.m. Please bring covered dishes and your own table setting. Drinks will be provided.

Samantha Claypool and Amanda Look, both of Lawrence, were named to the 2009 dean’s list for winter term at Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., by earning a grade-point average of 3.45 or higher.

Claypool is a sophomore and Look is a senior at the college.

The Eudora High School Alumni Association’s banquet and annual meeting will be June 7 in the commons area at Eudora High School, 2203 Church St.

Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. The covered dish dinner will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the business meeting. The banquet is open to all graduates of Eudora High School. A special recognition will be given to the class of 1959.

Paul and Samantha Kempf, Lawrence, were recognized at the annual awards convocation on April 3 at Sterling College, in Sterling. At the convocation, the college recognized scholarship winners and other outstanding students for their achievements.

Paul received the John E. Edwards Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Sports and the Crouse Family Scholarship. The John E. Edwards Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Sports is awarded to a member on the college football team, with balanced or well-rounded interests in life and also known to be an achiever in athletic and academic endeavors. The recipient must earn a minimum grade-point average of 2.5. The Crouse Family Scholarship is given to education students who demonstrate character traits based upon Christian teaching and an appreciation for the value of Christian truth in learning. He is the son of Gary and Dorothy Kempf.

His wife, Samantha, was also a recipient of the Crouse Family Scholarship.
