Fort Riley soldiers take to motorcycles to promote safety

? Hundreds of soldiers from Fort Riley’s 1st Infantry Division will be hitting the road this week to promote safety.

They won’t be rolling out of the Army post in military vehicles but on motorcycles, part of an effort to encourage soldiers to properly operate and maintain their motorcycles.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jim Champagne will lead about 250 riders from every unit. The trip will go through Dickinson, Geary and Riley counties.

Champagne said with the weather warming up, more soldiers and civilians would be riding their motorcycles in and around Fort Riley. The group ride will emphasize safety, as well as riding together as a big group.
