The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has rescinded a boil water advisory for Jefferson County Rural Water District No. 14.

The district serves about 60 people in southwest Jefferson County along the southwest shoreline of Perry Lake.

KDHE officials issued the advisory May 8 because of maintenance resulting in an interruption in water service. With little or no water pressure in the distribution system, it is possible for contamination to occur. Any time water pressure is lost in a system, it allows the potential for bacteria to enter.

Laboratory testing indicates no evidence of contamination, and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination are resolved, KDHE officials found.
