Series to address senior, caregiver issues

A summer series aims to provide information about issues concerning seniors and caregivers during lunchtime on Thursdays.

It also is designed to spark conversation and provide support.

Programs will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Lawrence Public Library’s gallery room, 707 Vt., and participants should bring a sack lunch.

Drinks and a light dessert will be provided. The sessions are free, and no registration is necessary.

The first program will be June 18 and will be given by Julie Mettenberg of Home Helpers, which provides daily housekeeping, shopping and companion care. Mettenberg will explain the value in giving respite and support to caregivers.

Cindy Baker, a personal fitness instructor, will give the program “Fit Plus 50” on June 25.

Programs in July will be about how to have a successful doctor’s visit, prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, journaling, grief support and computers.

The series is presented by Midland Care-Hospice Services and the Lawrence Public Library Senior Outreach.

For more information, call Pattie Johnston of the library at 843-3833, extension 115, or Lucas Houk of Midland Care at 220-4558.
