Joe C. Morris, Leawood, founder and past chairman of the Capital Corp., and Bill Taylor, Overland Park, past partner at Ernst & Young LLP, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Kansas University’s School of Business at a banquet April 16. The award was created in 1998 to honor outstanding graduates from the School of Business.

Morris earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with highest distinction from KU in 1961. He was designated a distinguished military graduate, served three years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and later received a graduate degree from Indiana University’s Graduate School of Business. Morris is a KU Endowment trustee and a member of the KU Endowment Investment Committee. He is the immediate past national chairman of the KU Alumni Association. In 2006, Morris was the recipient of the Fred Ellsworth Medallion for distinguished service to KU.

Taylor retired in 2003 as a partner in Ernst & Young LLP. He was a co-founder of the School of Business’ Ernst & Young Center for Audit Research and Technology and coordinated activities between the center and the firm’s national office. Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting in 1967 and a master’s degree in accounting in 1969, both from KU. He is chair of the School of Business’ Board of Advisors, chair of the KU Alumni Association Audit Committee, board member of the KU Research Institute at the medical center and a member of the University Multicultural Scholars Advisory Council.
