Monica Nightengale joins KPR’s Morning Edition and will host the local portions of the show. She has worked in radio and TV broadcasting, as well as print journalism, since 1982. Nightengale was recently the community affairs and news director at KMJK-FM in Kansas City. She also was the local host for the nationally syndicated “The Tom Joyner Show.”

Nightengale also has worked as general manager at KGGN-AM in Kansas City and WREN-AM in Topeka; has been an on-air personality and show producer at several stations in Kansas City, including KMXV-FM, KUDL-FM, KXTR-FM, KPRS-FM, and KPRT-AM; worked as a television news producer and engineer at KSNT and KTKA in Topeka and KSNW in Wichita; been an editor and reporter at The Gospel Truth and Talk Of The Town newspapers; and was host and executive producer of Youth Today and Street Beat on cable TV in Kansas City.
