Among significant projects expected to affect drivers this week in the area:

Lawrence

• City crews are scheduled to fill cracks this week on sections of North Second Street, Lakeview Road and the downtown area. Specifically: Iowa Street, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday; Eighth Street downtown, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. today; New Hampshire Street, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. today; Ninth Street downtown, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday; Vermont Street, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday; 10th Street downtown, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday; and Kentucky Street near downtown, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday. Such work will close several hundred feet of a single lane at a time.

• A section of East 902 Road, below the Clinton Lake dam, remains closed for resurfacing. The city’s Mutt Run Dog Park is open once again, although access to Eagle Bend Golf Course remains limited to traffic coming in from the south on East 902 Road.

• Traffic on some streets generally east of Wakarusa Drive and south of Clinton Parkway will face delays as crews conduct microsurfacing work.

• The right lane for traffic headed west on Sixth Street, near Queens Road, is closed to accommodate street widening.

• Access to the right lane for traffic headed west on Sixth, from Folks Road to the intersection with Wakarusa, continues to be limited for extension of an existing right-turn lane. Traffic also is limited north of the intersection.

• Crews are expected to be making repairs to railroad crossings in North Lawrence through Tuesday. Both North Third and North Eighth streets are expected to be closed at railroad crossings between Lincoln and Maple streets.

• Drivers may encounter brief periods of slow traffic as construction continues for a new U.S. Highway 59 between Lawrence and Ottawa.

Interstate 435

• Traffic heading both east and west on Interstate 435 will face varying lane closures as crews move around to repair pavement from Interstate 35 to State Line Road in Johnson County. The work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

• The left-hand lanes for traffic heading each and west on I-435 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday at U.S. Highway 69 in Johnson County as crews paint a bridge.

• The left two lanes for traffic heading north on I-435, from Kansas Highway 32 to Kansas Avenue in Wyandotte County, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday for work to seal joints.

U.S. Highway 69

• The ramp connecting westbound Interstate 435 and southbound U.S. Highway 69 in Johnson County is expected to remain closed through Friday as crews repair the ramp’s shoulder.

• The two left lanes for traffic heading north on U.S. 69 will be closed from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, from just before Interstate 435 to College Boulevard in Johnson County, for pavement-marking work.

• The right lane for traffic headed south on U.S. 69 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, from just before I-435 to College Boulevard in Johnson County, for repairs to the shoulder.

Kansas Highway 7

• Traffic on K-7 remains squeezed into one lane in each direction from 55th Street/Johnson Drive to Shawnee Mission Parkway, in Johnson County, for road-construction work. The posted speed limit is 50 mph, and the lane restrictions are expected to last into late June.

• The left lane of K-7/U.S. Highway 73 is closed for traffic headed north from a point south of Gilman Road in Leavenworth County. The lane is expected to reopen late this month.
