Air Force Airmen Jacob Krause and Andrew Goodrick have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Krause, who earned distinction as an honor graduate, is a 2007 graduate of Tonganoxie High School and the son of Diane Minear, Tonganoxie, and Keith Krause, Lebo.

Goodrick is a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School and the son of Tom and Trecia Goodrick, Lawrence.

Col. Vic Braden, Lawrence, is the senior mentor for 16 Kansas National Guardsmen who recently deployed to their mobilization station at Fort Riley. The guardsmen then are set to go to Afghanistan for a yearlong mission as a Regional Corps Advisory Group, serving as advisers and mentors to the Afghanistan National Army or an Afghanistan police unit.

Braden has been deployed twice, once in 1990-1991 in support of Desert Storm and again in 2003-2004 to Bosnia. He lives in Lawrence with his wife, Marla, and two daughters, Chelsea, 23, and Emily, 20.
