The first round of recommended operational changes for the Lawrence Transit System — including a new, combined route serving downtown, the Kansas University campus and the retail area on South Iowa Street — awaits approval today from Lawrence city commissioners.

Six recommendations in all are set to be considered by commissioners during their meeting, which begins at 6:35 p.m. today at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets.

The goal of all recommendations is to improve coordination between the city’s service, known as the T, and KU on Wheels.
