Community events

The Bert Nash Center has canceled its Outreach at the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday. It will be rescheduled.

The Parkway Gardens Townhome Association has canceled its annual board meeting. The meeting was to be held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

Sunday’s Trek Bikes Demo has been relocated from the Kansas River Trails to the Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop, 804 Massachusetts St. The event will be held from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Missouri Repertoire Theater’s production of Charlotte’s Web at Lawrence High School Saturday night has been canceled.

League of Women Voters’ issue meeting on housing and commercial development in Lawrence on Saturday has been canceled.

South Junior High dance on Friday has been canceled.

Saturday activities at BridgePointe Community Church are canceled — that includes a School Board and City Commission forum, the Park Hill Neighborhood Association General Meeting, a men’s breakfast and a presentation by Greg Wiens.

The Baldwin City Community Wellness Festival on Saturday has been canceled. It will not be rescheduled.

Attorney General Stephen Six’s appearance Saturday morning at the Lawrence Public Library has been canceled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Kansas Department of Labor Unemployment Insurance Contact Center will be closed on Saturday. Regular weekly claims can still be filed by calling 785-296-4337. New claims will only be taken online at the Department of Labor’s Web site. Anyone expecting a call about their benefits will be notified of a new time.

Saturday’s Erica’s Run has been canceled. Anyone who has already registered may pick up a T-shirt at Gary Gribbles in downtown Lawrence.

The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has canceled the Dam Run, scheduled for Saturday morning.

The Annual East Lawrence Yart Sale will be held as schedule Saturday, snow or shine.

The Academy of Tai Qi Saturday Classes will be canceled. Contact 785-393-4573 with any questions.

High School activities

The Lawrence High School varsity baseball game scheduled for today at SCABA against Shawnee Heights High School has been canceled. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Free State High track meet scheduled for today at FSHS has been called off, as well. No make-up date has been set. However, as of noon, the Firebirds’ 4 p.m. home soccer match against Lansing was still on.

Lawrence High School’s drum line audition clinic is canceled. A make-up date will be determined soon.

The Kansas State High School Activities Association has canceled all Solo & Small Ensemble Regional Music festivals on Saturday.

The Eudora High School choir still will give a performance of Platinum at 7:30 p.m. Friday, but the choir’s Platinum performance on Saturday has been postponed.

Saturday’s Platinum will be rescheduled for a later date that district officials have not yet announced. Tickets for Saturday will be honored at the rescheduled performance.

Saturday’s league forensics tournament in Eudora has been cancelled.

KU sports

The KU football team’s open practice has been moved inside and is now closed to the public. The next open practice is Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

The Kansas University softball team’s Big 12 series against Texas A&M, scheduled for March 28 and 29 in Lawrence, also has been canceled. No reschedule information has been announced.
