Summer Job Fair scheduled for April 4

People looking to work this summer as lifeguards, fitness instructors, camp counselors, sports umpires and in other recreation-related capacities soon will have a chance to get in the game.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation will conduct a Summer Job Fair from 10 a.m. to noon April 4 at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.

The fair will give people opportunities to fill out applications for employment, and also to learn more about all available employment positions for the summer.

Employment could start by the end of April, said Lori Madaus, the city’s aquatics supervisor. Others could start closer to the beginning of the traditional summer activities season.

The city plans to hire “at least 50, if not more” summer employees overall, she said.
