KU Provost Lariviere officially named as president of University of Oregon

Kansas University Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Richard Lariviere has been officially named as the new president of the University of Oregon.

The State Board of Higher Education unanimously voted to appoint Lariviere as president during a special meeting Friday morning.

Lariviere will begin his new job this summer, and will return to Oregon in April to meet with faculty and staff to continue his transition, according to a statement from the Oregon state board.

“I am honored by the trust the State Board of Higher Education has placed in me to lead Oregon’s flagship university,” Lariviere said in the statement. “The University of Oregon is an international leader because of the faculty’s outstanding teaching and research.”

Lariviere’s last day at KU is June 30.
