Pancake feed raises nearly $8,000

The American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 raised $7,900 Saturday during its 60th Legion Pancake Day.

Post members and volunteers served 1,060 guests, said Don Acher, a post member. “It was just more than we can handle, and that’s good,” he said.

Funds will be donated to the American Legion baseball program to help with equipment and travel expenses this summer.

The pancake feed is a Lawrence tradition that George Starkey, Delbert Mathia and Harold Fisher started.
