Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity Alumnae and Patroness Chapter will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive. The program will be given by Austrian-born Eva Rappart Edmands, sharing World War II childhood memories and stories of her family’s opera-world friends. A musicale will be presented by Elizabeth Schellman, soprano, and Janis Hutchison, piano, with dessert to follow. Hostesses will be Laura McCorkill, Janet Mody and Jennifer Hutchison Purvis.

Also, chapter members from Lawrence Alumnae and Kansas University’s Beta Beta held music auditions for junior high students Feb. 21 with professional musicians serving as judges.

Ten students selected to perform at the Lilas Schmidt Junior High School Honors Recital Feb. 22 at Plymouth Congregational Church were: Stephen Bowman, piano; Sarina Farb, piano; Greg Hildenbrand, piano; Katrina Jacobsen, vocal; Alita Joseph, piano; Caitlin Laird, vocal; Yihan Li, piano; Siel Snowden, piano; Sisira Srisutiva, violin; and Cal Young, piano.

Teachers of these students are Judy Chadwick, Carol Cook, Julie Holmberg, Phyllis Olsen, Holly Page, Carole Ross, Elizabeth Schellman, Jung Spooner and Sylvia Stoner-Hawkins.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Feb. 25 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Harry Shaffer and Ed Howard, first in A; Eldon Herd and Virginia Johnston, second in A; Suzanne Wassmer and Wanda Durbin, third in A; and Chris Lane and Carol Ball tied in first in B with Clarice Broz and Marilyn Martin.

East-West winners, Mark Osborn and Lois Clark, tied for first in A with Paul Heitzman and David Piro; Shari Krentzel and Nita Scales, third in A and second in B; and Virginia Eddy and Betty Collier, first in C.

The Thursday Morning Duplicate Mentor Bridge Club’s game on Feb. 26 utilized an individual movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Jean Khatib, first; Earle Core, second; Patricia Lechtenberg, third; and Marilyn Martin tied in fourth with Eldon Herd, Barbara McCorkle and Chris Lane.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Feb. 27 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Wanda Durbin and Steve Vossler, first in A; Eldon Herd and Mary Fenlon, second in A; Sally Taylor and Carol Ball, third in A and first in B; Kent McCullough and Lois Clark, fourth in A and second in B; Janice Hollowell and Jolene Andersen, third in B and first in C; and Betty Collier and Catherine Blumenfeld, second in C.

East-West winners were Grant Sutton and Eleanor Patton, first in A and B; David Piro and Paul Heitzman, second in A; Jack Flickinger and Dick Shaffer, third in A, second in B, and first in C; and Linda Randall and Linda Swain, fourth in A, third in B, and second in C.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on March 2 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were James Masilamani and Steve Vossler, first in A; Lois Clark and Kent McCullough, second in A and first in B; Clyde Romer and Steven Phelps tied with Christopher Kulig and Lester Dalton in third in A and second in B; and Earle Core and Albert Ballard, first in C.

East-West winners were Donna Johnson and Peter Petillo, first in A; Ed Howard and John Fittell, second in A; Dave Chipman and Brad Ellis, third in A; Paul Heitzman and David Piro, fourth in A; and Jolene Andersen and Patrick Musick, first in B and C.
