Search narrows for superintendent

After interviewing six candidates for superintendent of Lawrence public schools, the Lawrence school board cut the field in half during a meeting Saturday.

However, the three finalists’ identities were not revealed.

Board President Craig Grant said Sunday that the board will be keeping specific information, including the candidates’ names, confidential until the winner is announced, hopefully at next week’s school board meeting.

“March 9th, we are hoping to be ready to announce the new superintendent,” said Grant.

Board members are enthusiastic about the remaining candidates. “We are all excited about it,” said board member Linda Robinson.

Grant said that all of the candidates are current superintendents and that not all three are from the state of Kansas.
