Rain will continue for some time but the storms are not expected to be severe.

Now 254 Westar Energy customers without power in Douglas County, while only 37 Westar customers are still without power in Leavenworth County.

8:08 p.m.

All the severe thunderstorm warnings in the area have expired. Thunder and lightning continues throughout the area.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

Westar Energy reports 694 customers in Leavenworth County and 282 customers in Douglas County are currently without power.

7:50 p.m.

Westar Energy reports 1091 of its 26493 Leavenworth County customers are currently without power.

The majority are along K-32 between Lawrence and Linwood.

Just 252 Douglas County Westar Energy customers are still without power. The majority of those are near 19th and Haskell or in rural Douglas County between Lawrence and Eudora.

7:21 p.m.

The Leavenworth County Emergency Management Office has confirmed two lightning strikes in Tonganoxie. One strike was to a business, and one to a house.

About 563 Westar Energy customers in Leavenworth County are currently without power.

A severe thunderstorm warning has also now been issued for Wyandotte and Johnson counties.

7:13 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm warning for Douglas and Jefferson counties has been canceled due to the weakening of the storm in the area. The watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

6:58 p.m.

Westar Energy is reporting 575 customers are without power right now.

The largest concentration of outages is is in North Lawrence.

6:43 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Douglas and southeastern Jefferson counties until 7:30 p.m.

Radar indicated a storm capable of producing damaging winds near north central Lawrence, moving south at 25 mph.

A severe thunderstorm watch also covers nearby counties including Wyandotte and Leavenworth, Johnson, Shawnee and others.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected to be the primary threat, according to the National Weather Service.

The excessive heat warning also remains in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.
